Multi-award winning American composer and lyricist Adam Gwon will play a special concert at London’s St James Studio next week.
Adam Gwon – The New American Musical will feature rising musical theatre star Gwon, a five-piece band and special guests performing his work at the venue on 12 May.
A winner of the prestigious Fred Ebb, Richard Rodgers and Kleban awards, Gwon’s songs have been performed in concert by Broadway stars Audra McDonald and Kelli O’Hara.
Gwon, whose musicals include the Off-Broadway and West End hit Ordinary Days, will be joined on stage by three of the stars of the 2011 Trafalgar Studios production of his show: Julie Atherton (Avenue Q), Alexia Khadime (The Book of Mormon) and Lee William-Davis (Shrek).
Other special guests include: Helena Blackman (Titanic), Alistair Brammer (Miss Saigon), Rebecca Brewer (The Threepenny Opera), Cassie Compton (American Psycho), Amy Ellen Richardson (Guys and Dolls), Fra Fee (Candide), Clare Foster (Guys and Dolls), Sevan Greene (the US workshop of Gwon’s String), Stuart Matthew Price (Rocky Horror Picture Show), Sarah Middleton (Fings Ain’t Wot They Used T’Be) and Ashley Robinson (Sunset Boulevard).
The evening will feature musical direction by Joe Bunker (the musical director of David Greig’s award-winning The Events) and will be staged by the director of the London production of Ordinary Days, Adam Lenson.
