Alice Fearn and Sophie Evans will take on the central roles in the hugely successful Wicked at London’s Apollo Victoria Theatre from Monday 24 July.

Fearn (Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, Shrek The Musical), who originally joined the West End production last year as Standby Elphaba will step into the role she understudied alongside show newcomer Sophie Evans as Glinda.

Evans, who shot to fame as runner-up in the Andrew Lloyd Webber TV talent search Over the Rainbow, previously visited Oz as Dorothy Gale in The Wizard of Oz at the London Palladium.

Other new cast members will include Bradley Jayden who will play Fiyero, the character he is currently playing in the show’s international touring production; Melanie La Barrie (Matilda, Mary Poppins) who will play Madame Morrible; and Andy Hockley (The Phantom of the Opera, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang) who will step up as The Wizard.

Boq will be played by Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts graduate Jack Lansbury in his West End debut and Laura Pick will take over as Standby for Elphaba. They will join current cast Martin Ball (Doctor Dillamond), Sarah McNicholas (Nessarose) and Carina Gillespie (Standby for Glinda).

The newcomers will take over from Willemijn Verkaik (Elphaba), Suzie Mathers (Glinda), Oliver Savile (Fiyero), Sue Kelvin (Madame Morrible), Mark Curry (The Wizard) and Idriss Kargbo (Boq) who will all play their final performances on Saturday 22 July.
