The critically acclaimed UK touring production of Green Day’s award-winning rock musical American Idiot will perform a special one-night only ‘Rock-A-Long’ show at London’s Arts Theatre in September.

Following on from a similar event last year, audience members will be encouraged to ‘rock out’ with the cast on Thursday 8 September in celebration of the production’s limited return run at its home venue which is due to end on 25 September.

The current cast includes Newton Faulkner alongside original London cast members: Amelia Lily, Steve Rushton, Alexis Gerred, Lucas Rush and Llandyll Gove. The line-up also includes Cellen Chugg Jones, Jemma Geanaus, Karina Hind, Emma Housley, Lawrence Libor and Alice Stokoe.

Featuring the music of Green Day, American Idiot has lyrics by the band’s lead singer Billie Joe Armstrong who also co-wrote the book with Michael Mayer. The production is directed and choreographed by Racky Plews, with musical supervision by Richard Morris, sound by Chris Whybrow, design by Sara Perks and lighting by Tim Deiling.

Winner of two Tony Awards and the 2010 Grammy Award winner for Best Musical Show Album, American Idiot the Musical premiered at Berkeley Repertory Theatre in September 2009, moving on to a critically acclaimed Broadway run in April 2010. Its hit songs include ‘Boulevard of Broken Dreams’, ‘21 Guns’ and the title track ‘American Idiot’ from Green Day’s 2004 Grammy Award-winning, multi-platinum album. The show also features songs from Green Day’s 2009 release 21st Century Breakdown and an unreleased love song, ‘When It’s Time’.
