Casting has been announced for Ovation’s revival of the Cole Porter classic musical Anything Goes at Highgate’s Upstairs at the Gatehouse opening next month.
Taryn Erickson will make her UK musical debut alongside recent graduates Jack McCann and Jack Keane and West End regulars including Samantha Dorsey, David Pendlebury and Nova Skipp. Also in the cast are Timothy Booth, Chloe Adele Edwards, Lucas James, Lewis McBean, Lucie Horsfall and Chloe Porter.
With music and lyrics by Porter and book by Guy Bolton, PG Wodehouse, Howard Lindsay and Russel Grouse, Anything Goes is a madcap musical comedy set aboard an ocean liner bound for New York to Southampton.
The production, which will run from 14 December until 29 January with a press night on 16 December, is based on the 1962 Off-Broadway version which was the first to incorporate a number of songs from Porter’s other shows.
‘Take Me Back to Manhattan’ (from The New Yorkers); ‘It’s De-Lovely’ (from Red Hot and Blue); and ‘Let’s Misbehave’ (from Paris) are featured alongside Porter standards including ‘I Get a Kick Out of You’, ‘You’re the Top’ and the title song.
Produced by Katy Plews for Ovation, the show will be directed by John Plews with musical direction by Dan Glover and choreography by Chris Whittaker.
The creative team also includes lighting designer Sam Waddington, designer Emily Bestow, costume supervisor Harriet Fowler and sound designer Jon Raper. The stage manager is Izabel Florence and casting is by Pearson Casting.
