Home-grown musical talent will be celebrated at a special one-off fundraiser later this month at London’s Union Theatre.
Devised by Alastair Knights (director of the award-winning production of The Spitfire Grill), Best of British will play for one night only at the Union Theatre on 20 March.
The cabaret, which is in aid of the Union Theatre, will feature leading West End stars performing a selection of music from popular musical theatre productions.
Under the musical direction of Alex Parker, the show will feature music from established names like Andrew Lloyd Webber, Lionel Bart, Stiles and Drewe and Howard Goodall, as well as showcasing new work by the new generation of musical theatre writers.
The confirmed artists due to appear include Jack North (ENO’s Sweeney Todd, Harry Potter and The Cursed Child), Matthew Rowland (Taboo, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory), Sharan Pull (Bend It Like Beckham), Emma Harrold (Happy Days, Oliver!), Alex Young (Show Boat, Anything Goes) and Erin Doherty (winner of the Stephen Sondheim Society Student Performer of the Year Award 2015). More performers are to be announced.
