Curtain Up album awards – Bend It Like Beckham, Cynthia Erivo, Oliver Tompsett and Scott Alan are winners

Bend It Like Beckham was chosen as the Best Cast Recording while Cynthia Erivo and Oliver Tompsett Sing Scott Alan took home the Best Solo Album award.

Hosts Tim McArthur and Nathan Matthews revealed the winners on their weekly Resonance FM show today after playing listeners a track from each of the nominated albums in both categories.

Announcing the list of nominees earlier this week, McArthur and Matthews commented: “Every week on The Curtain Up Show we play some of our favourite show tunes. We have the Brit Awards celebrating just about every genre of music, but what about the wonderful British talent performing on stages across London every night? We’re launching the Album of 2015 to recognise this phenomenal talent. To be honest, all the albums we’ve nominated are worth celebrating. It was a very tough job trying to single out a winner!”

The other nominees for Best Cast Recording were: Cool Rider (Original Studio Recording); Gypsy (2015 London Cast Recording); Made in Dagenham (Original London Cast Recording); and Memphis the Musical (Original London Cast Recording).

Now in its 11th series, The Curtain Up Show is hosted by actor, director and broadcaster McArthur and producer Matthews. Launched on Resonance FM in May 2012, the show offers a light-hearted view of the current state of London theatre and showcases both established and new musical theatre talent.

The radio station began broadcasting on the DAB+ platform this month and can now be heard across Greater London, Brighton and Hove. Listeners can also tune in online at
