West End performers Annalene Beechey, Daniel Boys, James Gillan and Lauren Samuels will star in the exclusive workshop presentation of the new musical revue Anything Can Happen! – celebrating the diverse repertoire of the Olivier Award-winning British writing team George Stiles and Anthony Drewe – on Friday 25 July at 1.30pm at the St James Theatre.
Anything Can Happen! has been specifically created by director Simon Greiff and will feature song medleys from Stiles and Drewe’s hit shows spanning 30 years of their writing partnership. Songs that deal with growing up, unrequited love, relationships, parenthood, hopes and dreaming big… and even a pig!
The material has been carefully selected from their acclaimed musicals including Just So, Honk!, Peter Pan, Betty Blue Eyes, Soho Cinders, additional songs written for Mary Poppins, plus stand alone material, new work, and songs that ‘got away’. The revue also chronicles the history of Stiles and Drewe, told through narration and song, chronologically in reverse, so the revue finishes with two fresh-faced 21-year-olds meeting over the photocopier at Exeter University.
With music by George Stiles, lyrics by Anthony Drewe, musical direction and arrangements by Sarah Travis (Dear World, and Tony award-winner for orchestrations on Broadway’s Sweeney Todd), and directed by Simon Greiff (most recently Picture Perfect at St James Theatre, Payback at Riverside Studios, and creator of SimG Productions and SimG Records).
The exclusive workshop presentation will also feature a three-piece band, and will be a unique opportunity to witness the very first showcase of a brand new musical revue. With only 100 seats available to the public, at only £15, booking early is advised.
Anything Can Happen! is supported using public funding by the National Lottery through Arts Council England.
