First casting details have been released for the Broadway musical Side Show which will receive its UK premiere in October at the Southwark Playhouse.
Louise Dearman, the first actress to star as both Glinda and Elphaba in the hit musical Wicked, has been cast as Daisy Hilton, and Laura Pitt-Pulford, an Olivier Award nominee this year for Seven Brides For Seven Brothers, will play her conjoined twin Violet.
The new production of the show, which was nominated for four Tony awards when it first opened in New York in 1997, will run from 21 October until 3 December.
Inspired by the true story of the 1920s vaudeville stars, the Hilton conjoined twins, Side Show features a score by Dreamgirls composer Henry Kreiger whose multi-award winning musical will debut in London a month later in November.
Side Show has a book and lyrics by Bill Russell (Elegies for Angels, Punks and Raging Queens). Additional book material is by Academy Award-winning screenwriter and director Bill Condon (Gods and Monsters, Dreamgirls) who reworked the show for its 2014 Broadway revival.
The new UK production will be directed by Hannah Chissick, with choreography by Matthew Cole, design by takis, and sound design by Dan Simpson. Casting is by Will Burton.
Further casting details are to be announced.
Side Show is presented by Paul Taylor-Mills, who returns to Southwark Playhouse following his acclaimed productions of In The Heights and Carrie: The Musical.
