Edinburgh Festival Fringe hit Paper Hearts will follow its sell-out London debut at Waterloo East Theatre with a run at Upstairs at the Gatehouse next month ahead of a tour of Germany in the summer.
A labour of love for its writer and composer, Swindon-based design agency boss Liam O’Rafferty, the story of two lonely people who find love while trying to save a high street bookshop will play the Highgate venue from 2-20 May with a press night on 4 May.
Directed by Tania Azevedo who heads a creative team that includes set and costume designer Anna Driftmier and musical director Daniel Jarvis, Paper Hearts won rave reviews when it premiered at last year’s Edinburgh Fringe.
The Upstairs at the Gatehouse production will feature Adam Small and Gabrielle Margulies as the central characters Atticus Smith and Lily Sprocket. The cast also includes Matthew Atkins, Sinéad Wall and Alasdair Baker, with Alec White, Eleanor Toms, Amy Gardyne, Ben Boskovic and Joel Benedict making up the ensemble.
Produced by Denise Koch, Paper Hearts features choreography by Lindsay McAllister, sound design by Philip Matejtschuk and lighting design by Clancy Flynn, with Sophie Johnson as stage manager.
