Olivier Award-winning musical theatre actress Janie Dee will present Wake Up With Janie Dee – a selection of cabaret songs and West End hits – on 8 February 2015, 11.30am, at Kings Place in London’s King’s Cross as part of Lucy Parham’s Word/Play coffee concert series (kingsplace.co.uk). Lucy Parham is regarded as one of Britain’s finest pianists.
Dee is returning by popular demand following the success of her concert last year as part of the series. She will be accompanied by Ben Atkinson on the piano.
Before that Dee will play the role of Desiree Armfeldt in a concert performance of Stephen Sondheim and Hugh Wheeler’s award-winning musical A Little Night Music on January 26 at the Palace Theatre (marking the show’s 40th anniversary since its West End debut in 1975). She will be joined by Anne Reid as Madame Armfeldt, Joanna Riding as Countess Charlotte Malcolm, David Birrell as Fredrick Egerman and Laura Pitt-Pulford as Petra. The concert will be semi-staged and features an onstage 25-piece orchestra.
In February 2015 Dee will star in a revival of 84 Charing Cross Road at the Salisbury Playhouse opposite actor Clive Francis.
