Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre has today announced that, following its sell-out success in 2016, Jesus Christ Superstar returns for just 41 performances in 2017 (11 August to 16 September), giving audiences one final chance to see the production in its original home.
With direction by Timothy Sheader, design by Tom Scutt, choreography by Drew McOnie, musical direction by Tom Deering, lighting design by Lee Curran and sound design by Nick Lidster for Autograph, the production won the BBC Radio 2 Audience Award for Best Musical in the Evening Standard Theatre Awards and has received 15 nominations in the BroadwayWorld Awards, including Theatrical Event of the Year.
Casting information will be announced in due course.
The precious cast featured singer-songwriter Declan Bennett in the title role, Tyrone Huntley (who just this weekend received the Emerging Talent Award at the Evening Standard Awards) as Judas, Anoushka Lucas as Mary Magdelene, David Thaxton as Pilate, Cavin Cornwall as Caiaphas, Peter Caulfield as Herod, Phil King as Peter, Joel Harper-Jackson as Simon Zealotes and Sean Kingsley as Annas.
Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre Memberships are on sale now and priority booking for members will open at 11am, 22 November. Public booking opens at 11am, 15 December.
