Joe McElderry is to return to the title role in Bill Kenwright’s touring production of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat early next year.
The singer, whose first taste of fame came as an 18-year-old X Factor winner, made his first appearance in the UK’s longest-running touring musical earlier this year.
He will don the ‘coat of many colours’ once more when the 2017 national tour opens at GLive in Guildford from 24-28 January 2017.
The production will then head for the New Wimbledon Theatre (31 January-4 February), Dartford’s Orchard Theatre (7-11 February), Hastings’ White Rock Theatre (14-18 February), Torquay’s Princess Theatre (21-25 February), Portsmouth New Theatre Royal (28 February-4 March), Edinburgh Playhouse (14-18 March), Malvern Festival Theatre (21-25 March), Shrewsbury’s Severn Theatre (28 March-1 April), Bradford Alhambra Theatre (4-8 April), Preston’s Charter Theatre (18-22 April), Nottingham Theatre Royal (25-29 April), Bristol Hippodrome (2-6 May), Cardiff’s Wales Millennium Centre (9-13 May) and Londonderry’s Millennium Forum (30 May-3 June).
Presented by special arrangement with the Really Useful Group, Kenwright’s production of Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber’s much-loved musical is now in its 36th year.
