‘One Voice’ is a brand new recording by Brian May and Kerry Ellis, just completed and being rushed for release on Monday 13 April. The video of Brian and Kerry’s performance of the song is already available to be viewed at May’s Official YouTube channel (see below).
Announcing the release, May says: “This is probably the fastest turnaround I’ve ever achieved – in terms of getting from a finished mix to a new song being ‘out there’ – but we’re rarin’ to go, and decided to dispense with the formalities and throw our new track out there without a backward look.
“This track is Art for Art’s sake. To me, it’s something I’m already proud of, with a magnificent vocal performance by Kerry Ellis, but also it has a crystal clear human message – ‘You have a voice… your voice CAN make a difference’.”
‘One Voice’ is a song written by Ruth Moody, co-founder of the Canadian music group, The Wailin’ Jennys. Moody has personally given her approval for this new arrangement by May, and she is acknowledged in the credits thus: “We thank Ruth Moody most sincerely for giving us her blessing to re-present her beautiful song.”
Credits show drums by legendary Meat Loaf drummer, John Miceli, with all other instruments by May, who produces the track.
A regular vocal partner to May in the recording studio and in live concerts, Ellis is a highly respected star of both the West End and Broadway, currently inspiring rave reviews as Grizabella in Cats at the London Palladium.
