Kings of Broadway concert – cast includes Richard Fleeshman and Janie Dee

Janie Dee joins the cast of Kings of Broadway at the Palace Theatre on 29 November

The timeless music of legendary composers Jerry Herman, Stephen Sondheim and Jule Styne will be celebrated in Kings of Broadway, a special concert at London’s Palace Theatre on Sunday 29 November.

The latest from Alex Parker and Alastair Knights, the creative team behind the staging of Sondheim’s A Little Night Music which played the Palace in January, Kings of Broadway will be the first performance presented by the newly formed Alex Parker Theatre Company.

The show will be conducted by Parker and directed by Knights and will feature a cast headed by Alistair Brammer (Miss Saigon), Janie Dee (The Seagull), Richard Fleeshman (Ghost), Jamie Parker (High Society, Guys and Dolls) and the star of the popular TV series Last Tango in Halifax, Anne Reid.

A 30-piece orchestra will join the stars on stage to perform music from many of Broadway’s most enduringly popular shows. Classic musicals featured include: Hello, Dolly!La Cage Aux FollesFunny GirlGypsySunday in the Park With GeorgeMameCompany and Follies.

The accomplished vocal line-up will also include six members of the Les Misérables cast (Michael Colbourne, Zoe Doano, Celinde Schoenmaker, Emma Kingston, Peter Lockyer and Bradley Jaden) along with Andy Conaghan (Dirty Rotten Scoundrels), Deborah Crowe (The Phantom of the Opera), Fra Fee (Candide), Nadim Naaman (Sweeney Todd), Anna O’Byrne (Love Never Dies), Laura Pitt-Pulford (The Sound of Music), Laura Tebbutt (Forbidden Broadway) and Caroline Sheen (Mary Poppins).

Commenting on the concert which is planned as the first in a season of four projects to launch his new company, Parker said: “I am so excited to be able to showcase the music of these legendary composers sung by this fine group of actors – it is such a treat to have them all on the same stage for one night.”
