Kinky Boots cast changes – Simon-Anthony Rhoden takes over the role of Lola

Simon-Anthony Rhoden will take over the role of Lola in the multi award-winning Kinky Boots in July (the actor has been acting as Matt Henry’s understudy).

Rhoden’s move into the role that won musical theatre newcomer Henry critical and audience acclaim and an Olivier Award for Best Actor was announced alongside the casting of former Emmerdale star Verity Rushworth who will take over the role of Lauren from Elena Skye who made her professional West End debut in the show.

Henry and Skye will play their final performances on 8 July with Rhoden and Rushworth taking over from 10 July. Other new cast members from Monday 10 July will be Jed Berry, Momar Diagne, Lauren Drew, Dale Evans, Jordan Fox, Rosie Glossop, Keith Higham, Ben Jennings, Georgia Louise, Emma Odell, Antony Reed and Tom Scanlon.

David Hunter will remain in the role of Charlie alongside remaining current cast members Alan Mehdizadeh, Cordelia Farnworth, Michael Hobbs, Suzie McAdam, Jemal Felix, George Grayson, Robert Grose, Melissa Jacques, Robert Jones, Jane Milligan, Robin Mills, Sean Needham, Jon Reynolds and Dominic Tribuzio.

The show’s awards haul includes three Oliviers, the London Evening Standard BBC Radio 2 Audience Award for Best Musical and the WhatsOnStage Award for Best New Musical.

The show recently extended its booking period at the Adelphi Theatre until 24 March 2018.

With a book by Broadway legend and four-time Tony Award winner Harvey Fierstein (La Cage Aux Folles), and songs by Grammy and Tony-winning pop icon Cyndi Lauper, the production is directed and choreographed by Jerry Mitchell.
