The first night of the Broadway revival of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Cats became part of a double celebration for the British composer who now has three hit shows running on Broadway.

To mark the occasion Lloyd Webber was joined by School of Rock’s Alex Brightman, The Phantom of the Opera’s James Barbour and his newest leading lady Leona Lewis backstage at the Neil Simon Theatre before the curtain rose on the first ever Broadway revival of Cats.

Champagne corks were popping again later after a triumphant opening night when Lloyd Webber joined the cast, production team and celebrity guests for a ‘Jellicle Ball’ at Gotham Hall.

Cats, directed by Trevor Nunn and choreographed by Hamilton’s Andy Blankenbuehler, is currently taking bookings until January 2017.

School of Rock at the Winter Garden Theatre is offering tickets up to May 2017, while The Phantom of the Opera, Broadway’s longest-running musical, is playing the Majestic Theatre.
