The four West End productions shortlisted for this year’s Magic Radio Audience Award have been announced.
Jersey Boys, Matilda the Musical, Les Misérables and The Phantom Of The Opera, are all in the running for the award which will be presented at this year’s Olivier Awards with MasterCard at the ceremony on 3 April.
Created to celebrate London’s long-running shows, the Magic Radio Audience Award is the only category voted for entirely by members of the public. This year’s shortlisted shows were chosen from 16 eligible shows for which theatre fans from across the world were able to vote.
The nominated shows will perform on the ITV Stage in Covent Garden Piazza on the day of the awards. The full ceremony, which this year celebrates the Oliviers’ 40th anniversary will be held at the Royal Opera House in Covent Garden and will be broadcast on ITV and Mellow Magic, Magic Radio’s new digital spin-off station. The awards will also reach a worldwide audience when they are shown on the Olivier Awards’ new YouTube channel (youtube.com/OlivierAwards).
Magic’s Drive Time presenter Richard Allinson said: “It has been fantastic seeing our listeners get so excited about the Magic Radio Audience Award. Competition has been fierce and there is a plethora of amazing West End shows featured. I cannot wait to see the final four gather in Covent Garden and wait with anticipation to see who the winner is.”
