UK television viewers will be able to watch highlights of this year’s Olivier Awards’ ceremony when the show is broadcast for the first time in a primetime slot on ITV on Tuesday 11 April from 8pm until 10pm.
Following on from the prestigious event’s debut at the Royal Albert Hall on Sunday 9 April which will be broadcast live on Magic Radio, the glittering show will also be transmitted worldwide at the same time on Facebook and will also stream to China for the first time via YouKu.
Hosted by comedian Jason Manford, the 2017 Olivier Awards with Mastercard show will feature performances from a number of Olivier-nominated musicals.
Gary Barlow and Tim Firth will open the show with a unique performance with the cast of The Girls. American star Amber Riley will perform the showstopping ‘And I Am Telling You’ from Dreamgirls. Tim Minchin will be flying in to represent Groundhog Day which has recently begun previewing on Broadway.
Fans of Andrew Lloyd Webber will be treated to a performance from the multi-talented cast of School of Rock The Musical and a performance from Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre’s acclaimed production of Jesus Christ Superstar ahead of its limited season return this summer.
There will also be an exclusive performance from Matthew Bourne’s The Red Shoes, nominated for Best Entertainment and Family – the production is currently on tour across the UK.
The star-studded line-up will also include six-time Tony Award winner Audra McDonald who will perform exclusively during the Memoriam section tribute to those we have lost in the year since the last awards event.
Details of the guest presenters will be announced over the coming weeks.
Olivier Award winner Ruthie Henshall and Alice Arnold will host the live show on Magic Radio in the UK which will begin with a build-up on from 5.30pm while Sirius XM will broadcast the show in the US.
As previously announced, broadcaster and former Strictly favourite Anita Rani will join Collabro’s Jamie Lambert and New York Entertainment reporter Frank DiLella as the hosts of the inaugural ‘Live From The Red Carpet Show’ exclusively on Facebook from 4.30pm until 6pm.
