Innovative family musical adventure Where is Peter Rabbit? will return to the heart of the Lake District on Saturday (10 June) for a 12-week summer season.
The show, which adds the wit of leading playwright Alan Ayckbourn to the timeless magic of Beatrix Potter and combines live performance, projection and recorded material, will once again play the Old Laundry Theatre, Bowness-on Windermere.
Featuring the voices of stage and screen stars Miriam Margolyes and Griff Rhys Jones, Where is Peter Rabbit?, which received its world premiere at the distinctive venue last year, will feature a new cast of six actors.
Running until Sunday 3 September, the show will this year feature Glenn Adamson, Becky Black, Steven Hardcastle, Suzi Holland, Vivienne Smith and Victoria Sye. The live cast will perform along with recordings of Jones, who recorded readings of the tales of Peter Rabbit and Jeremy Fisher, and Margolyes who lends her voice to the stories of Mrs. Tiggy-Winkle and Jemima Puddle-Duck.
The brainchild of the owners of The World Of Beatrix Potter Attraction, renowned theatre set designer Roger Glossop and his theatre producer wife, Charlotte Scott, the show brings to life some of Potter’s best-loved characters.
With long-time friend and associate Ayckbourn helping transform Potter’s words into lyrics, the couple enlisted composer Steven Edis (The Silver Sword, Birdsong, The Invisible Man) to provide the music.
Following on from his innovative designs for the attraction when The World of Beatrix Potter Attraction opened 25 years ago, Glossop designed a new theatre set that lovingly re-creates the literary world of the author.
Currently shortlisted for the Cumbria Tourism Event of the Year, the production which attracted rave reviews and over 20,000 visitors to the little Theatre in Bowness last summer, is hoping for another successful season with two additional weeks of performances.
