The team behind the political satire of David Blunkett the Musical will turn its attention to more recent current affairs with Trump – The Panto! this December.
Taking aim at the flamboyant new President of the USA and making liberal use of ‘fake news’, Trump – The Panto! will be written and directed by Stuart Saint.
Produced by Martin Witts, the show will play its world premiere run at the Leicester Square Theatre from Tuesday 12 until Saturday 30 December with a press night on Thursday 14 December.
Commenting on the show which will debut 12 years after the producers turned the private life of Labour Home Secretary Blunkett into a stage satire, producer Witts said: “For the past six years we have produced London’s No 1 adult pantomime, with the highly successful DICK! and SLEEPING BOOTY reinventing the format.
“Others have since followed us and now London’s festive line-up is crowded with similar shows. So, for 2017 we have decided to go in an exciting new direction and send up the biggest politician on the planet: President Trump. Trump – The Panto! is a festive filthy frolic with a new and scintillating, satirical twist.”
Taking its inspiration from musical theatre classics including The Wizard of Oz and Into the Woods, Trump – The Panto! will feature a cast of familiar fairy tale characters on a quest over the ‘Mexican Wall’ into the mystical land of ‘Mar-A-LaLa-Go’.
