Strictly stars Aljaz Skorjanec and Janette Manrara pay tribute to Fred Astaire

Remembering_Fred-Aljaz Skorjanec and Janette Manrara 2 Strictly Come Dancing professionals Aljaz Skorjanec and Janette Manrara are celebrating the magic of song and dance legend Fred Astaire in the touring show Remembering Fred.

The duo who are regular partners on the hit BBC celebrity dance series have just begun a 50-date tour inspired by the talent and style of one of Hollywood musicals’ biggest stars.

Backed by a full supporting cast of dancers, singers and a live band, the new show from the producer of Darcey Bussell and Katherine Jenkins’ popular Viva La Diva tour, the show features performances of some of Astaire’s most famous dance routines.

Commenting on their show Skorjanec and Manrara said: “Fred Astaire is an inspiration to every dancer we know. We are excited to be headlining a show paying tribute to this unique Hollywood legend. We will celebrate his dance, his choreography, his most memorable songs and films, as well as his poise and elegance and what made this man such an icon of the 20th century. And just like Fred, we will be doing it big, doing it right and doing it with style!”

Directed by Gareth Walker with musical direction by Clive Tunstall, the show features contributions from celebrity Astaire fans including Bussell, Don Black, Twiggy and fashion designer Bruce Oldfield. Astaire’s most famous partner, the late Ginger Rogers, also features in footage reminiscing about the star, while his daughter Ava Astaire-McKenzie makes her own personal contribution.

The tour, which features classics from the American songbook including ‘’S’wonderful’, ‘Cheek to Cheek’, and ‘Night and Day’, is due to end in June with three dates at the Hall For Cornwall in Truro.

The show begins a second series of dates in March 2018 at The Royal Spa Centre in Leamington Spa.
