Casting has been announced for a special fundraising concert to support the eagerly-anticipated homecoming of historical Welsh musical My Land’s Shore.
Featuring songs by British composers and hosted by Tim McArthur, the concert on Sunday 3 September will play London’s Ye Olde Rose and Crown Theatre, the venue where the show received its world premiere in February this year.
With musical direction by Aaron Clingham, the fundraiser will feature: Kira Morsley, Kieran Brown, Christopher J Orton, Carolyn Maitland, Martin Neely, Hugo Joss Catton, Robert Metson, Michael Rees, Brendan Matthew, Shaun McCourt, Emma Hickey, Arabella Rodrigo, Maggie Robson, Katy Marie Baker, Rebecca Gilliland, Craig Rhys Barlow, Aled Powys Williams and Julie Ross.
My Land’s Shore is due to head home for its Welsh premiere run at Theatr Soar in Merthyr Tydfil on 20 February 2018.
Based on the true story of the tragic hero of the Merthyr Rising of 1831 when iron workers and coal miners were involved in bloody clashes with soldiers drafted in to protect industrialists, My Land’s Shore features a book and lyrics by Robert Gould and music and lyrics by Christopher J Orton.
Presented by All Star Productions, the new Welsh production will reunite the original creative team of director Brendan Matthew, musical director Aaron Clingham and choreographer Charlotte Tooth. The show will be produced by All Star’s Andrew Yon.
Casting for the production will be announced in November.
The original production at Ye Olde Rose and Crown Theatre was nominated for three Off West End Awards: Best New Musical, Best Musical Direction for Aaron Clingham and Best Set Design for Joana Dias.
