Theatrical charity Acting For Others has set the date and place for London’s third annual West End Bake Off.
Following on from last year’s successful fundraiser which culminated in the cast of The Secret Garden taking home top honours, this year’s event will be held on Saturday 20 May at St. Paul’s Church, Bedford Street, London.
The fundraiser that combines freshly baked cakes and sweet treats with West End theatre stars raises money for Acting For Others, the umbrella organisation that represents 15 UK theatrical charities.
Last year’s West End Bake Off raised over £6,000 for the charitable group which offers emotional and financial support to members of the entertainment industry who have fallen on hard times.
In 2016 teams from 20 top West End shows lined up to try to impress judges Michael Ball, Christopher Biggins and Barbara Windsor with their culinary skills. Cast and crew from The Secret Garden followed on from previous winning show The Mousetrap.
The event is free to members of the public to attend with judging beginning at 10.30am and the winners announced at 11am. After announcing the winners, the Bake Off will be declared open for the public to buy cakes and signed posters and mingle with cast and crew from the participating shows.
For those unable to attend on the day, Acting For Others can still be supported by donating at its Just Giving page www.justgiving.com/ctafo.
West End Bake Off is supported by Official London Theatre.
