Choreographer Arlene Phillips and actress Janie Dee will join returning judge Barbara Windsor to choose the winners at 2017’s West End Bake Off later this month.
The fundraiser that combines freshly baked cakes and sweet treats with West End theatre stars is due to take place at the Actors’ Church, St Paul’s on Saturday 20 May.
Hit West End shows already preparing to field a team include: School of Rock, The Girls, The Play That Goes Wrong, The Comedy About a Bank Robbery, Aladdin, The Phantom of the Opera, Mamma Mia!, The Book of Mormon, Les Misérables, Kinky Boots and Half a Sixpence. Further participants will be announced shortly.
The event raises money for Acting For Others, the umbrella organisation that represents 15 UK theatrical charities.
Last year’s West End Bake Off, which culminated in the cast of The Secret Garden taking home top honours, raised more than £6,000 for the charitable group which offers emotional and financial support to members of the entertainment industry who have fallen on hard times.
In 2016 teams from 20 top West End shows lined up to try to impress the celebrity judging panel with their culinary skills.
The event is free to members of the public to attend with a suggested donation of £1. Judging begins at 10.30am with the winners announced at 11am. After announcing the winners, the Bake Off will be declared open for the public to buy cakes and signed posters and mingle with cast and crew from the participating shows.
For those unable to attend on the day, Acting For Others can still be supported by donating at its Just Giving page www.justgiving.com/ctafo.
