Marti Webb to play three-date concert tour

CjVoPhOXIAEIexgVeteran West End leading lady Marti Webb will play the first of three shows on Sunday (11 September) at the Queen’s Theatre, Hornchurch.

Produced by Paul Burton Productions, Marti Webb In Concert will showcase the vocal talents of the popular stage and recording star along with special guest Robert Meadmore.

Featuring songs from a career that stretches back over five decades, Webb’s short concert tour will also play the Octagon Theatre, Yeovil on 23 September and the Royal Hippodrome Theatre, Eastbourne on 8 October.

West End regular and classical recording artist Meadmore (The Phantom of the Opera, Brigadoon) will appear at the Hornchurch and Eastbourne shows only.

With a West End musical career that began with her debut as a teenager in Anthony Newley and Leslie Bricusse’s Stop The World I Want To Get Off, Webb is firmly established as one of theatre’s most accomplished stars.

After winning critical and audience acclaim for her performance in the original production of Tell Me On a Sunday, a show which was created for Webb by Andrew Lloyd Webber and Don Black, the star has appeared in numerous West End and touring productions of hit shows.

Her first West End leading role was opposite Tommy Steele in the original 1963 production of Half a Sixpence and she would later provide the vocals for the character played in the 1967 film version by Julia Foster.

Webb would go on to play Nancy in the first UK tour of Oliver! and was in the original London company of Godspell and took over from Elaine Paige in the first West End production of Evita.

More recently she starred in the West End and UK tour of Blood Brothers and the UK tour of Hot Flush as well as a production of Tell Me On a Sunday at the St James Theatre and the Duchess Theatre two years ago.
