News is that London’s Menier Chocolate Factory will be presenting the European premiere of Broadway musical The Color Purple later on this year, with Tony Award-winning director John Doyle directing and designing.
Inspired by the Pulitzer Prize winning novel by Alice Walker, the inspirational story of Celie has been adapted for the stage by Marsha Norman, with music (incorporating jazz, ragtime gospel and blues) and lyrics by Brenda Russell, Allee Willis and Stephen Bray.
