Stage and screen actors Gemma Arterton (star of the new West End musical Made in Dagenham which opens in October) and Stephen Mangan (appearing on stage in Olivier nominated comedy Jeeves & Wooster in Perfect Nonsense) will host the Olivier Awards 2014. The voiceover will be provided by Olivier Award winner Julie Walters.
The Olivier Awards with MasterCard – the most prestigious event in the UK’s theatrical calendar – take place on Sunday 13 April at the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden, and will be broadcast later that evening on ITV in a full highlights package.
This year’s new set has been designed by Es Devlin, the multi award-winning international stage designer whose work crosses a wide range of genres including drama, dance, opera and pop. She designed the London 2012 Olympic Closing Ceremony and, most recently, provided the set design for the new musical I Can’t Sing! She is herself nominated for an Olivier Award this year for her designs for the play Chimerica.
More details of the UK and international line-up for the awards ceremony on 13 April will be announced shortly.
