Casting has been revealed for Ovation’s production of Singin’ in the Rain at Upstairs at the Gatehouse in London’s Highgate Village, running from 17 December to 25 January 2015 (press night is 19 December).

SImon Adkins leads the cast as Don Lockwood in the Ovation production of Singin’ in the Rain at Upstairs at the Gatehouse, opening on 19 December
With a screenplay by Betty Comden and Adolph Green, music by Nacio Herb Brown and lyrics by Arthur Freed, Singin’ in the Rain tells the story of the first Hollywood musical, when the silver screen found its voice and left silent movies behind. Based on one of the world’s best-loved movies, it features all the songs from the glorious MGM score including ‘Good Morning’, ‘Make ’em Laugh’, ‘Moses Supposes’ and the classic title song.
Simon Adkins (Viva Forever, Jersey Boys) plays Don Lockwood, alongside Frankie Jenna (Candide at the Menier Chocolate Factory, Singin’ in the Rain, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, The Rat Pack in the West End) as Kathy Selden. Paul Harwood takes on the role of Cosmo Brown, the friend and confidante of Don, and recent graduate Thea Jo Wolfe portrays star of the silent movies, Lina Lamont.
Joining them as studio boss RF Simpson is Nick Barclay (UK tour of Dial M For Murder) and Samuel Haughton playing director Roscoe Dexter. Also in the cast, and making a welcome return to the Gatehouse after last year’s production of Kiss Me Kate, is Martin Steven Carlton.
Completing the line up are Lindsay Atherton, Vicky Longland, Emily Wigley, Will Ferris and Matt Jolly.
Director John Plews heads up a creative team which includes musical director Matt Ramplin, choreographer Chris Whittaker, designer Sarah June Mills, lighting designer Aaron J Dootson and sound designer Jon Raper.
Singin’ in the Rain at Upstairs at the Gatehouse is produced by Katie Plews for Ovation.
