The Swedish producers behind the Richard III rock opera Richard Rocks have postponed its London premiere to 2016.
Featuring cutting edge lighting, sound design, video and computer animation, Richard Rocks was announced to open for a five-week season from 3 October in the 770-seat Great Hall of The People’s Palace, in the East End. Press night was going to be Wednesday 7 October.
Viper Island Productions announced they will instead present a concert version of the production, featuring the former Nightwish singer, Anette Olzon. A new venue will be announced at a later date.
Richard Rocks, with 35 original songs and a cast of 28, is inspired by Shakespeare’s Richard III and by Al Pacino’s 1996 film, Looking For Richard. It has music by Peter Robsahm and a book by Maria Robsahm.
