Fascinating Aïda’s Liza Pulman will be using her break from the popular musical comedy trio to tour a new show next year.
Liza Pulman Sings Hollywood, an evening of classic music from the movies will tour the UK from March 2016. Accompanied by Joseph Atkins and the Stardust Orchestra, Pulman will perform a selection of the silver screen’s most famous and much loved songs.
Announcing the show, Pulman said: “I had a seriously misspent youth playing snooker and watching old movies! I firmly believe that the songs from these movies are in our DNA, and whether we know it or not they are part of our yesterdays and our todays, and will live on to be part of our tomorrows. With my gorgeous orchestra I have the opportunity to share my two great loves (not snooker!) – music and the movies.”
The performer who joined the award winning Fascinating Aïda in 2004 has enjoyed an extensive and varied career. After training at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama she joined Glyndebourne Opera enjoying roles in many of the company’s leading productions. She then guested with the D’Oyly Carte and Carl Rosa companies, playing the lead in operettas by Offenbach and Gilbert and Sullivan.
In musical theatre she appeared alongside Michael Ball in Adrian Noble’s award-winning 2002 production of Chitty Chitty Bang Bang at the London Palladium, and played opposite Phillip Schofield in the UK tour of Doctor Dolittle. Her solo projects include her acclaimed show Everything’s Coming Up Roses and the development of her concert and recording series Liza Pulman Sings.
