Christopher Biggins, Celia Imrie and Bill Paterson have been enlisted to judge the efforts of teams from some of the West End’s biggest shows for the first West End Flea Market on Saturday 18 May 2019.
The star judges will decide who will win the inaugural trophy for the Best Dressed Stall with Biggins also hosting Biggins’ Bargains which will involve two showbiz teams going head to head to hunt for goodies to auction off. The winning team will be the one to raise the most money at auction.
More star-power will come from the inimitable Su Pollard who will be telling fortunes, and the event will also include live entertainment, a raffle and a signing and selfie area.
Following the hit formula established by four years of West End Bake Off, the West End Flea Market will be a star-studded fundraiser for Acting For Others, the umbrella organisation that represents 15 UK theatrical charities.
Teams from Hamilton, The Book of Mormon, Only Fools and Horses, the Royal Opera House, The Phantom of the Opera, The Mousetrap and Les Misérables will be among those hosting stalls selling showbusiness memorabilia including signed posters and photographs and props from the shows.
Performers and creatives from the West End’s biggest shows will compete against each other, with proceeds from the day going to the charitable group which offers emotional and financial support to members of the entertainment industry who have fallen on hard times.
The event will be free to members of the public to attend and cheer on their favourite show. Open from 10.45am until 1pm, the event will offer theatre lovers the chance to mingle with cast and crew from the participating shows.
