Pint of Wine Theatre Company will present a three-week development workshop of new dark comedy musical P.S. I’m A Terrible Person in London next month.
Culminating in two invitation-only performances at the Cockpit Theatre on 22 and 23 October 2020, the workshop will feature an innovative projected set designed by illustrator Larisa Bulb.
Featuring a book and lyrics by Francesca Forristal (Oddball, Dragprov, Vault Festival) and music and lyrics by Jordan Paul Clarke (Happy, Vaults, Goodbye, Tristan Bates Theatre), the story of addiction told through the eyes of 17-year-old Martha Weiss will be directed by the assistant artistic director of Showstopper: The Improvised Musical, Ali James.
The principal cast includes: Nicole Raquel Dennis (Dear Evan Hansen, Noël Coward Theatre, Dreamgirls, Savoy Theatre), Piers Bate (Waitress, Adelphi Theatre, Kiss Me Kate, Opera North), Charlotte Vaughan (The Phantom of the Opera, Her Majesty’s Theatre), Lewis Cornay (The Book of Mormon, Prince of Wales Theatre, Mary Poppins, Prince Edward Theatre), Lottie Johnson (The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee, Drayton Arms, The Secret Garden, Leatherhead Theatre) and the show’s book writer Forristal as Martha Weiss.
They will be joined by David Birch, Ricardo Castro, Matthew Cavendish India Chadwick, Phoebe Ellabani, Kerri Norville, Bethany Weaver and Natalie Moore Williams.
Announcing the workshop, producer Blake Klein said: “We are incredibly excited to support the continued development of this bold, new musical. In the current climate, it is as important as ever to support actors, writers, designers and technicians, and we are proud that this workshop will feature artistic collaborations not normally seen in a workshopped musical. We very much look forward to taking this musical to the next stage through this workshop.”
The creative team for the production includes choreographer Lucie Pankhurst, musical director Joe Bunker, costume designer Zahra Mansouri, sound and video designer Adrian Jeakins, sound designer Max Hunter and lighting designer Francis Clegg.
Pint of Wine Theatre Company previously presented the European professional premiere of Michael John LaChiusa’s Queen of the Mist and a version of the Broadway hit Side Show. The company is actively supporting a number of new musicals.
