Kerry Ellis will be stepping back into the role of Grizabella when GWB Entertainment’s international touring production of Cats reaches Taiwan this summer.
The West End and Broadway leading lady will play her part in the 4oth anniversary celebrations of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s iconic musical when the tour visits the Taipei Arena in Taipei from 16 until 19 June before moving to Kaohsiung National Opera House in Kaohsiung City and Tauchung Chung-shan Hall in Tauchung City.
Commenting on the news on her Twitter page, Ellis said: “So excited to be joining the cast of cats again @gwbentertainment I can’t wait to smile at the moon again.”
Fans of the star who previously played Grizabella at the London Palladium in 2015 were given a reminder of Ellis’ version of the musical’s most famous song ‘Memory’ recently with the release of her recording of a special version of the song in support of Acting for Others.
One of musical theatre’s most accomplished stars, Ellis made her West End debut as Eliza Doolittle in 2001 in My Fair Lady and went on to originate the role of Meat a year later in We Will Rock You. Ellis also won praise for her performance as Fantine in Les Misérables in the West End and famously starred as Elphaba in Wicked in the West End and Broadway.
