Bart Lambert and Jack Reitman will re-create their award-winning performances as killers Leopold and Loeb in the musical thriller Thrill Me: The Leopold and Loeb Story at London’s Jermyn Street Theatre early next year.
Joint winners of the OffWestEnd Award 2020 for Best Male Performance in a Musical, Lambert (Antigone, Storyhouse Chester) and Reitman (Amour, Charing Cross Theatre) will take centre stage as Nathan Leopold and Richard Loeb once again from 13 January until 5 February 2022.
As previously announced, director Matthew Parker’s 2019 production of Stephen Dolginoff’s Thrill Me: The Leopold and Loeb Story will be the opening production of the production in the Outsiders Season – the spring 2022 season at the central London venue.
Previously seen at The Hope Theatre in Islington, Dolginoff’s dark musical is based on the notorious ‘thrill killers’ Richard Loeb and Nathan Leopold whose murderous partnership famously inspired Patrick Hamilton’s 1929 play Rope and Alfred Hitchcock’s classic 1948 film of the same name.
Commenting on the production, Jermyn Street Theatre’s artistic director Tom Littler said:“ “We’re excited to kick off our Outsiders Season with our first musical for a long time. Thrill Me is perfectly suited to our chamber space and features two magnetic performances in this dark and gripping story.”
The season will also include the European premiere of the climate change protest-themed Rain and Zoe Save The World. Featuring original music by composer Bobby Cronin, playwright Crystal Skillman’s award-winning work will run from 10 February until 12 March 2022. A co-production with Drew & Dane Productions, Rain and Zoe Save The World is directed by Hersh Ellis.
