Multi-award-winning Gigglemug Theatre (A Jaffa Cake Musical, RuneSical, Timpson: The Musical) is taking its smash hit, actor-musician-led musical comedy Scouts! The Musical on tour throughout June 2025.
Following on from two sold-out seasons at London’s Palace Theatre, Scouts! The Musical will embark on a mini tour in June while Gigglemug Theatre’s A Jaffa Cake Musical will play an encore run at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe in August.
Created in partnership with The Scout Association, Scouts! The Musical features a book by Gigglemug’s artistic director Sam Cochrane and a score by former scout David Fallon. The heart-warming family-friendly musical set during the annual Scout Games is also directed by Cochrane with musical direction by Rob Gathercole.
New company members Eleanor Fransch (You’re A Good Man, Charlie Brown, Alice in Wonderland) as Eliza and Burhan Kathawala as Joe will join returning actors Kemi Clarke (Beautiful: The Carole King Musical, The Gruffalo) as Scout Leader Dylan, Katie Pritchard (A Jaffa Cake Musical) as Rosie and Emily Kitchingham as Charlotte with musical director Gathercole (Faking Bad) as Luke/Linus Lionheart and Heather Gourdie as Narrator/Swing.
The tour will visit The Crescent Theatre in Birmingham (3-7 June), Hope Mill Theatre in Manchester (10-15 June), Upstairs at the Gatehouse in London (18-22 June) and The Egg Theatre in Bath (26-29 June).
After delighting the crowds at last year’s Edinburgh Festival Fringe, A Jaffa Cake Musical will return to Edinburgh following preview performances in Bath (venues and dates to be announced).
Written and produced by Cochrane, with arrangements and musical direction by Gathercole, the musical which takes its inspiration from the 1991 tribunal which determined the true identity of a Jaffa Cake, is directed by Ali James.
With a reputation for partnering with different organisations to create family comedy musicals, Gigglemug also created the Edinburgh Fringe hit Timpson: The Musical, the 2021 Fringe hit The Bean Spillers The Improvised Musical All About Gossip and the 2022 Fringe hit RuneSical.
