The new cast has been confirmed for next year’s London return of Cable Street – the musical reimagining of the true story of a multicultural community which came together to oppose Oswald Mosley’s British Union of Fascists as they attempted to march through London’s East End in October 1936.
The cast will feature a number of cast members from the original run at Southwark Playhouse including: Olivier Award nominee Debbie Chazen (Murder on the Orient Express, UK tour, Jews. In Their Own Words, Royal Court Theatre) as Kathleen; Ethan Pascal Peters (Muriel’s Wedding, Leicester Curve, Nerds, Edinburgh Fringe) as Moishe; Max Alexander-Taylor (Jesus Christ Superstar, Watermill Theatre, Precipice, New Diorama Theatre) as Sean; Aoife Mac Namara (Sleeping Beauty, Mill Theatre) as Orlaith; and Jez Unwin (Groundhog Day, The Old Vic, The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe, UK tour and West End) as Yitzhak and Steve.
Lizzy-Rose Esin-Kelly (The Lightning Thief: The Percy Jackson Musical, The Other Palace, Little Shop of Horrors, Sheffield Crucible) will play Mairead with Isaac Gryn (Stranger Things: The First Shadow, Phoenix Theatre, The Tattooist of Auschwitz, Sky) as Sammy, Barney Wilkinson (Stranger Things: The First Shadow, Phoenix Theatre, Bonnie & Clyde, Garrick Theatre) as Ron, Olivier Award-nominated musical theatre star Preeya Kalidas (Everybody’s Talking About Jamie, Apollo Theatre; If/Then, Savoy Theatre) as Edie/Elizabeth and Romona Lewis-Malley (Clueless, Trafalgar Theatre; Malpractice, ITV) as Rosa.
Michali Dantes (Jesus Christ Superstar, Watermill Theatre) joins the ensemble alongside Annie Majin (Natasha, Pierre and the Great Comet of 1812, Donmar Warehouse) with Natalie Elisha Welsh (A Midsummer Night’s Dream, The Cornerhouse Theatre) as Rachel.
Following on from two successful runs at London’s Southwark Playhouse in 2024, the tale of the ordinary people who united to defend their home and each other in the face of hatred, will play the Marylebone Theatre from 16 January until 28 February 2026.
Featuring a contemporary score by award-winning composer and lyricist Tim Gilvin and a book by playwright Alex Kanefsky, the production is directed by Adam Lenson.
Lenson leads a returning production team that also includes musical supervisor Tamara Saringer, associate producer Neil Marcus, set designer Yoav Segal, costume designer Lu Herbert, sound designer Charlie Smith and choreographer Jevan Howard, with lighting design by Sam Waddington and Ben Jacobs, and casting by Olivia Laydon for Jill Green Casting.
Cable Street is produced by Dylan Schlosberg’s 10 to 4 Productions.
