The first details of the 50-plus performances from some of London’s biggest shows lined up for next month’s West End Live have been revealed.
As previously announced, London’s Trafalgar Square will once again be transformed into the ultimate open-air theatre on 20 and 21 June. Europe’s largest free musical theatre festival is once again expected to attract tens of thousands of theatre fans.
Disney’s Hercules and Disney’s The Lion King will be the opening shows, with Hercules launching the festivities on the 20 June and The Lion King ruling over proceedings on 21 June. Other hit shows will include Avenue Q, Beetlejuice The Musical, The Book of Mormon, Cabaret, The Choir of Man, Disney’s High School Musical, The Devil Wears Prada, Hadestown, Hamilton, Kinky Boots, Les Misérables, Magic Mike Live, Mamma Mia!, Matilda the Musical, Moulin Rouge! The Musical, Oliver!, My Neighbour Totoro, Operation Mincemeat, Paddington The Musical, The Phantom of the Opera, The Producers, SIX, Titanique, Waitress and Wicked. More performances and the weekend’s full schedule will be announced at a later date.
Presented by Westminster City Council and the Society of London Theatre, with support from the Mayor of London, West End LIVE annually brings audiences of all ages into the heart of the city to celebrate the very best of the West End.
For the first time in West End LIVE history, 100 ‘queue jump’ places per day are up for grabs via an online competition. Each lucky winner will access West End LIVE via a separate entrance, plus one winner will get the chance to go backstage and see the magic of the event from behind the curtain, receive a £50 merchandise voucher and £200 in Theatre Tokens to redeem on OfficialLondonTheatre.com or at the Official London Theatre Ticket Booth in Leicester Square. Entrants must complete an online form at OfficialLondonTheatre.com to be in with a chance of winning.
