Full casting details have been revealed for the brand new production of the musical Annie starring Craig Revel Horwood and Lesley Joseph as Miss Hannigan. The musical will open on Saturday 11 July 2015 at the Theatre Royal, Newcastle.
With its award-winning book (Thomas Meehan) and score (Charles Strouse and Martin Charnin), this new production includes the songs ‘It’s the Hard Knock Life’, ‘Easy Street’, ‘I Don’t Need Anything But You’ and ‘Tomorrow’.
Craig Revel Horwood is probably best known as a judge on BBC One’s Strictly Come Dancing. His West End theatre credits include: Munkustrap in Cats at the New London Theatre, Miss Saigon at the Theatre Royal, Drury Lane and Harry in Crazy For You at the Prince Edward Theatre which took him to the US and Germany before re-creating the show for Susan Stroman in South Africa. Other theatre credits in his native Australia include: West Side Story, the Australian and New Zealand tour of The Danny La Rue Show, La Cage Aux Folles, Me and My Girl and Norman in the hit comedy play Ladies Night.
Lesley Joseph is best known for playing Dorien Green in the hugely successful sitcom Birds of a Feather alongside Pauline Quirke and Linda Robson. They recorded more than 100 episodes over a period of nine years. Joseph and her co-stars returned to our screens in Birds of a Feather in 2013 with a second series airing earlier this year. Theatre credits include Miss Hannigan in Annie at the West End’s Victoria Palace and also on national tour. Her other touring credits include Calendar Girls and Hot Flush!
They are joined by Alex Bourne as Oliver Warbucks, Holly Dale Spencer as Grace Farrell, Jonny Fines as Rooster and Djalenga Scott as Lily. The company also includes James Alan- Evans. Lewis Bradley, Nic Gibney, Sinead Kenny, Michael Lin, Alice Liveing, Megan Louch, Callum McArdle, Benjamin Mundy, Steven Oliver, Heather Scott-Martin, Anne Smith and Kate Somerset How.
Sharing the title role of Annie will be Madeleine Haynes, Isabella Pappas and Sophia Pettit. Joining them will be Asha Banks, Rosanna Beacock, Chloe Bowes, Connie Burgess, Claudia Carlier, Jessica Cartledge, Scarlet Churchhouse, Scarlett Flannery, Ashley Goldberg, Mia Hope, Amelia Love Coleman, Lissy Mant, Daisy Parry, Natasha Raphael, Nikoo Saeki, Liani Samuel, Kate Woodman and Tegan Williams.
Annie is directed by Nikolai Foster, set and costume design are by Colin Richmond, choreography is by Nick Winston, lighting is by Ben Cracknell and sound design is by Richard Brooker.
The production is produced by Michael Harrison and David Ian.
