The UK’s biggest musical theatre concert series West End Musical Drive-In is returning with a series of live performances in its London home next month.
Following on from its popular live shows last year (and the current digital re-streaming) which brought a touch of musical theatre magic to audiences in their cars, the series will return to its North London home every Saturday from 17 April until 29 May 2021.
Confirming plans for the return to live shows, co-producer Chris Steward said: “We are delighted to announce our reopening in line with the government’s roadmap. We will once again be one of the first live performance events to reopen and we can’t wait to celebrate the joy of musicals with theatre fans again.”
Presented by the team behind the popular West End Musical Brunch events, the West End Musical Drive-In series brought West End-quality entertainment to thousands of fans at the North London site for three months last year.
Featuring West End stars including Kerry Ellis, Alice Fearn, Lucie Jones, John Owen-Jones, Rachel Tucker and Layton Williams, the series provided many artists with their first chance to perform live for theatre-hungry audiences following the Covid closedown.
Each show featured live performances of musical theatre classics from West End stars on stage. The show was projected onto three large screens with sound provided via a tailor-made FM radio frequency.
