Avenue Q to tour UK again in 2019

Award-winning puppet show with bite Avenue Q is heading back on the road with a new UK tour opening at Portsmouth’s Kings Theatre on 21 January next year.

Featuring a cast of 11 performers and puppets, the production will be directed and choreographed by Cressida Carré, with design by Richard Evans, lighting design by Charlie Morgan Jones and sound design by Chris Bogg. Puppet design is by Paul Jomain of Q puppets with puppet coaching by Nigel Plaskitt.

Produced by Selladoor Worldwide, with Richard Darbourne Limited, the tour will visit Birmingham, Dartford, Basildon, Derby, Bradford, Canterbury, the Wirral, Cheltenham, Ipswich, Brighton, Cardiff, Glasgow and Sheffield Lyceum. Further dates will be added soon.

Created by Jeff Marx and Robert Lopez, the co-creator of The Book of Mormon and the co-writer of this year’s Oscar-winning song ‘Remember Me’ (from Disney’s Coco), Avenue Q debuted Off-Broadway in 2003. A Broadway transfer followed within months where the show collected the Tony Awards for Best Musical, Best Score and Best Book.

Three years later Cameron Mackintosh brought the show to the West End where it ran for five years before touring the UK for the first time.

Set in a downtown New York street, the show features a cast of colourful characters exploring topical themes in defiantly non-PC way.
