The multi award-winning Beautiful – The Carole King Musical is to begin a tour of the UK in September next year. The announcement came this week just days after new casting details for the London production were revealed.
In a statement the producers said: “We are truly thrilled that Beautiful will be touring the UK next year. The response from audiences in London has, and continues to be, amazing. We know that the rest of the country will take this great show with the most wonderful songs to its heart.”
The tour will begin at the Bradford Alhambra from Saturday 9 until Saturday 16 September 2017 before moving onto dates at the Plymouth Theatre Royal, Southampton Mayflower, Norwich Theatre Royal, Southend Cliffs Pavilion, Nottingham Theatre Royal, Belfast Grand Opera House, Wales Millenium Centre Cardiff, Birmingham Hippodrome, Newcastle Theatre Royal, Edinburgh Playhouse, Manchester Palace Theatre, Glasgow King’s Theatre, Milton Keynes Theatre, Woking New Victoria Theatre, Sunderland Empire, Bristol Hippodrome, Regent Theatre Stoke On Trent, Liverpool Empire and New Theatre Oxford, with more venues and dates to be announced.
Based on the early life and career of legendary singer/songwriter Carole King, Beautiful – The Carole King Musical has a book by Douglas McGrath with words and music by Gerry Goffin, Carole King, Barry Mann and Cynthia Weil. The show is directed by Marc Bruni with choreography by Josh Prince, set designs by Derek McLane, costume designs by Alejo Vietti, lighting by Peter Kaczorowski and sound by Brian Ronan. Orchestrations and music arrangements are by Steve Sidwell.
The show features the enduringly popular songwriter’s classic hits including ‘So Far Away’, ‘It Might as Well Rain Until September’, ‘Take Good Care Of My Baby’ and ‘Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow’, along with hits like ‘You’ve Lost That Lovin’ Feeling’, ‘On Broadway’ and ‘Uptown’ from songwriters Barry Mann and Cynthia Weil.
An Olivier, Tony and Grammy award-winning show, Beautiful – The Carole King Musical opened in the West End in February 2015 and earlier this year a further 200,000 new tickets were released for sale, extending booking at the Aldwych Theatre up to 22 July 2017.
