The musical which mixes blues, souls, Motown, classical music and Jewish folk song in a tale set in momentous times in 1960s Louisiana, was one of the highlights of artistic director Daniel Evans and executive director Rachel Tackley’s first season at the Chichester Festival Theatre in 2017.
Although the original 2004 Broadway production of Caroline, Or Change was re-staged at the National Theatre in 2006 and went on to win the Olivier Award for Best New Musical, Chichester’s version was the first new UK production.
Featuring a book and lyrics by Pulitzer Prize-winning writer Kushner and music by Tony Award-winning Tesori, Caroline, Or Change premiered off-Broadway in 2003.
