Four West End favourites will help composer Alexander S. Bermange to take his hit musical revue I Wish My Life Were Like A Musical to the Edinburgh Festival Fringe this summer.
Les Miserables’ James Hume (Mary Poppins, international tour) will appear alongside Felix Mosse (Aspects of Love, Hope Mill Theatre/Southwark Playhouse), Charlotte O’Rourke (Mamma Mia! West End) and Charlotte Anne Steen (42nd Street, Drury Lane).
The show which received its world premiere in 2018 at London entertainment hub Live At Zédel, will debut at Underbelly in Edinburgh from 31 July until 26 August 2019.
Featuring a cast of West End favourites musical comedy composer Bermange’s audience and critic-pleasing show offers a glimpse behind the scenes into the world of eager young drama school graduates, demanding divas, awful auditions, backstage backstabbing and showstopping moments.
Commenting on his cast, Bermange said: “We are over the moon to have such a superb cast to take the show to Edinburgh. What will make it so special is that they are all performers who have an intimate knowledge of the scenarios depicted in the show; it’s very much about their world and their lives. And it’s a world that fascinates people – perhaps because what’s offstage and onstage can be equally dramatic!
“We’re really looking forward to revealing some of the secrets of musical theatre in a way that’s funny, irreverent, brutally truthful – but very affectionate.”
A regular contributor to BBC Radio 4 and the BBC World Service, Bermange’s writing credits include musicals The Route To Happiness, Thirteen Days and the multi-award winning Shadowless. The writer has also topped the iTunes comedy album chart with ‘Whit & Whimsy’ a collection of his songs recorded by a star-studded line-up of stage and screen favourites.
