Cast for Jewish Hollywood at Upstairs at the Gatehouse

The inspirational stories of the Jews who spearheaded the creation of Hollywood as the heart of the cinema industry are being celebrated in musical revue Jewish Hollywood.

Presented by Katy Lipson for Aria Entertainment, the production which has a script by Chris Burgess (Bette Midler and Me, The Great Jewish American Songbook) will play London’s Upstairs at the Gatehouse from 16 March until 17 April 2022.

Directed and choreographed by Cressida Carré, Jewish Hollywood features Sue Kelvin (Wicked, Fiddler On the Roof), 2021 Royal Central School of Speech and Drama graduate MacKenzie Mellen, Jack Reitman (Amour, Thrill Me) and Howard Samuels (The Sound of Music, Tonight’s The Night, The Rocky Horror Show).

Tracing the rags to riches journey of some of Hollywood’s biggest names, taking in subjects including anti-semitism, the notorious Communist witch-hunts of the 1950s and the rebirth of Jewish cinema in the 1960s which introduced the world to legendary stars Dustin Hoffman, Bette Midler and Barbra Streisand, the production’s musical direction is by Amir Schoenfield with musical arrangements by Andy Collyer.
