A trio of young actresses has joined the cast of new British musical Are You as Nervous As I Am? for its world premiere at London’s Greenwich Theatre this autumn.
Megan Donovan will follow her West End debut in Mary Poppins by sharing the roles of Young Peggy and schoolgirl Anwen with Darcey Wilks (The Sound of Music) and Eva Hill who will make her stage debut in the production.
They will join the previously announced Bill Ward (Emmerdale, Coronation Street, Everybody’s Talking About Jamie, Apollo Theatre) who will take on the role of charismatic band leader Bob and Katie Elin-Salt (The Rise and Fall of Little Voice, Bolton Octagon, A Comedy of Errors, National Theatre) and Emma Thornett (Bedknobs and Broomsticks, UK tour, Blood Brothers, Phoenix Theatre) as the two sisters at the heart of the story.
Written by Simon Spencer, with music by Leighton James House and lyrics by Shaun McKenna, the female-driven story of empowerment is due to run from 1-23 October 2022.
The cast also includes Sarah Ingram (Flashdance, Oklahoma!) as Catrin/Christine, Daniel Abbott (Groan Ups, Pride and Prejudice) as Larry, Simon Furness (The Cleaner, Uncle Vanya) as Peter, Ian Houghton (War Horse, This House) as The Welsh Soldier/Sam Berkowitz, Emily-Mae (City of Angels, Hairspray) as Kiki Kavelle, Jenny Perry (The Rocky Horror Picture Show, The Wizard of Oz) as A Cockney Girl/Peggy and Janet Cover and Christopher Cameron (Bat Out of Hell) in assorted supporting roles and as understudy Larry.
Produced by triple BAFTA-nominated TV producer Spencer, who makes his musical theatre and theatrical production debut with the show, the creative team for the production includes director Phoebe Barran, musical arranger Dr Matthew Malone and set and costume designer Kevin Jenkins with lighting by Mike Robertson and movement by Denni Sayers.
