Casting for first Monday Night at the Apollo show

Casting has been announced for the first concert in the re-scheduled live and live-streamed fundraising series of Monday Night at the Apollo shows on 24 May 2021.

West End stars Aimie Atkinson (SIX, Pretty Woman), Cassidy Janson (& Juliet, Beautiful: The Carole King Musical), Lucie Jones (Waitress, Rent), Cedric Neal (Chess, Motown the Musical) and Julian Ovenden (Show Boat, South Pacific) will take to the stage for an evening of music and theatrical chat.

Hosted by Greg Barnett (Miss Littlewood, Duchess of Malfi), the Monday Night at the Apollo series has been created to support the theatre industry with a percentage of the proceeds from each of the three shows to be donated to leading theatrical charity Acting For Others.

Tickets are now on sale for all three dates (24 May, 14 June and 5 July) with line-ups for the second and third shows which will also be live-streamed to home viewers via the theatre discovery platform Thespie to be announced soon. The producers will continue to review the details of each show as the performance date approaches and react according to any changes in Government guidelines.

Announcing the cast for the first show, producers Greg Barnett and High Summers said: “We’re excited to be announcing the first of our all-star line-ups for Monday Night At The Apollo. We have five of British theatre’s best performers joining us for this night to celebrate the reopening of our wonderful industry and we simply cannot wait to be out on stage performing in front of a live audience.

“We are thrilled that all three performances will also still be live-streamed to viewers at home via Thespie.com. The industry faces huge challenges in its recovery and we still hope to be able to raise funds for the charity Acting For Others to support the thousands of freelancers who continue to be hit hardest as our sector begins to slowly reawaken.

“Theatre and its audiences know how vital it will be to support each other on the road to recovery and in these seemingly crucial final months, we ask your support, kindness, and most of all your theatrical presence, as we embark on our journey back to the stage. Public health and the safety of our audiences are still our utmost priority and the performances will adhere to the current government guidelines.”

Produced by Barnett and Summers for the recently launched Wild Mountain Productions Ltd, the musical director for the series is George Dyer.
