Britain’s Got Talent runner-up Charlotte Jaconelli has been cast as Amalia Balash in the Landor Theatre production of She Loves Me
Charlotte Jaconelli (2012 Britain’s Got Talent runner-up) will play Amalia Balash in the Landor Theatre’s revival of She Loves Me this February (4 February to 7 March – press night is 9 February). Having trained at Arts Educational School, this is her musical theatre debut. Jaconelli commented: “I’m absolutely thrilled to be making my debut at the fabulous Landor Theatre. And I’m so excited that I get to be a part of She Loves Me with such a talented team of cast and creatives!”
Jaconelli’s classical-crossover duo (with Jonathan Antoine) was signed to Syco and went on to release two Gold certified albums. As a solo artist, she recently released her debut album Solitaire.
Among those joining Jaconelli in She Loves Me are: John Sandberg as Georg Nowack (The Hypochondriac at the Theatre Royal Bath and on UK tour, Rent at the Tabard Theatre, HMS Pinafore at the Union Theatre); Emily Lynne as Ilona Ritter (Evita, A Chorus Line, Shrek at the Pittsburgh Musical Theatre); Matthew Wellman as Steven Kodaly (The Despondent Divorcee at the C-Venue, Edinburgh Festival Fringe in 2014, The Bear in Mildred and The Midnight City at the Pleasance, Edinburgh Festival Fringe in 2014); Joshua Leclair as Arpad (See Rock City at the Union Theatre, The Theory of Relativity at the Actor’s Church, Oliver! at Drayton Entertainment, Canada); David Herzog as Ladislav Sipos (9 to 5! The Musical at the Merry-Go-Round Playhouse, New York, George M. Cohan Tonight! at the Charing Cross Theatre, I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change at the Downstairs Cabaret Theatre, New York); and Ian Dring as Mr Maraczek (Les Misérables at the Palace Theatre, Evita at the Prince Edward Theatre and Me and My Girl at the Adelphi Theatre).
With music and lyrics from the talent behind Fiddler On the Roof (Sheldon Harnick and Jerry Bock), the Tony and Olivier Award-winning musical She Loves Me is based on the play Parfumerie by Hungarian playwright Miklos Laszlo.
Director Robert McWhir is joined by musical director James Cleeve, choreographer Robbie O’Reilly, lighting designer Richard Lambert, designer David Shields and casting director Ben Newsome.
