Mia Lakha, Iman Pabani and Hannah Selk will share the roles of Young Miriam, Leah and Young Hebrew Girl with Leo Babet, Jonah Collier and Taylor Jenkins sharing the roles of Young Aaron, Young Egyptian Boy and Young Midian Boy.
The children will join the previously announced Luke Brady (Sweeney Todd, Chichester Festival Theatre, West End) who will star as Moses opposite Rocky Horror Show favourite Liam Tamne as Ramses. Hamilton’s Christine Allado will play Moses’ wife, Tzipporah with Alexia Khadime (The Book of Mormon, West End) as Moses’ sister Miriam; RSC associate artist Joe Dixon ( A Midsummer’s Night Dream), Debbie Kurup ( Sweet Charity, Donmar Warehouse), Gary Wilmot (Me and My Girl, West End & UK tour), Adam Pearce (Evita, Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre), Tanisha Spring (Big Fish, The Other Palace) and Silas Wyatt-Barke ( Sunny Afternoon, West End).
The cast will be completed by Simbi Akande, Casey Al-Shaqsy, Joe Atkinson, Danny Becker, Felipe Bejarano, Pàje Campbell, Mercedesz Csampai, Adam Filipe, Soophia Foroughi, Natalie Green, Jack Harrison-Cooper, Rachael Ireson, Kalene Jeans, Christian Knight, Jessica Lee, Oliver Lidert, Jay Marsh, Scott Maurice, Carly Miles, Sam Oladeinde, Alice Readie, Christopher Short, Ricardo Walker, Danny Williams, Niko Wirachman and Sasha Woodward.
Produced by Dreamworks Theatricals (a division of Universal Theatrical Group), Michael McCabe and Neil Laidlaw, the new stage musical based on the much-loved animated film opens at the Dominion Theatre on 5 February for a limited 32-week run.
Scott Schwartz (Disney’s The Hunchback of Notre Dame) directs the production which is choreographed by Sean Cheesman (So You Think You Can Dance).
With a book by Phillip LaZebnik (Disney’s Mulan and Pocahontas), the musical features the new songs by Stephen Schwartz (Wicked) together with the five he contributed to the Dreamworks’ film including the movie’s Oscar-winning song ‘When You Believe’ along with ‘Deliver Us’, ‘All I Ever Wanted’ and ‘Through Heaven’s Eyes’.
Based on the hit film which recently celebrated its 20th anniversary, the stage version originally premiered at TheatreWorks in Silicon Valley in the US in 2017 and has been seen at Denmark’s Fredericia Teater. The revised version of the show was showcased at a private reading in London in 2019.
The creative team also includes: Chicago-based set designer Depinet; costume designer Ann Hould-Ward (Disney’s Beauty and the Beast); lighting designer Mike Billings; sound designer Gareth Owen (Come From Away); projection designer Jon Driscoll (Ink, Brief Encounter) and illusion designer Chris Fisher (Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, Company) with orchestrations by August Eriksmoen (Come From Away); musical supervision and arrangements by Dominick Amendum (Wicked), musical direction by Dave Rose (Wicked) and casting by Jim Arnold (Wicked).
