The special staged concert production of the Olivier Award-winning Best New Musical, Come From Away has become the latest casualty of the current lockdown.
Originally due to play the hit show’s West End home, the Phoenix Theatre from 10-27 February 2021, performances of Come From Away: The Concert have now been cancelled with performances of the full London production now on hold until 18 June.
Reuniting the London cast, band and company, the specially adapted staging of the hit show had been created for a reduced audience capacity to allow for safe social distancing.
Produced by Junkyard Dog Productions and Smith and Brant Theatricals, Come From Away: The Concert was due to star Jenna Boyd, Tarinn Callender, James Doherty, Mary Doherty, Mark Dugdale, Alice Fearn, Kate Graham, Alasdair Harvey, Jonathan Andrew Hume, Harry Morrison, Emma Salvo and Cat Simmons.
The announcement of the cancellation of the 100-minute concert production follows the news that performances of Les Miserables: The Staged Concert next month have also been cancelled while the country remains in lockdown.
The Phoenix Theatre’s owners, Ambassador Theatre Group also announced that as a result of on-going social distancing restrictions, performances at all of its UK venues have been suspended until 3 April.
Full credit vouchers valid until 31 March 2022 or refunds will be offered to ticket-holders for all cancelled shows while bookings for performances with confirmed rescheduled dates will be automatically moved to new dates. ATG’s ticketing team is currently contacting ticket-holders for performances up to 28 February. Customers booked for the remaining performances will be contacted in the week commencing 1 February.
Tickets remain on sale for a wide range of productions including The Book of Mormon, Chicago, Beauty and the Beast, Les Misérables, School of Rock and the new production of Bedknobs and Broomsticks.
Theatre-lovers are being advised that they can book with ‘complete confidence knowing that if there are any further suspensions, tickets will remain fully valid for further exchanges or refunds’.
