The London cast recording of Marianne Elliott’s critically-acclaimed gender-swapped version of Stephen Sondheim and George Furth’s Company is released on CD today (Friday 22 March).
Available to buy from Amazon, and at HMV and the Gielgud Theatre, ‘Company – 2018 London Cast Recording’ will be released by Company Musical and Warner Classics.
Due to give its final performance at the West End’s Gielgud Theatre on 30 March 2019, Elliott’s re-working of Sondheim and Furth’s musical comedy about life, love and marriage stars Rosalie Craig as Bobbie.
The cast also includes: Patti LuPone as Joanne, Mel Giedroyc as Sarah, Jonathan Bailey as Jamie, George Blagden as PJ, Ashley Campbell as Peter, Richard Fleeshman as Andy, Alex Gaumond as Paul, Richard Henders as David, Ben Lewis as Larry, Daisy Maywood as Susan, Jennifer Saayeng as Jenny, Matthew Seadon-Young as Theo and Gavin Spokes as Harry. The cast is completed by Michael Colbourne, Francesca Ellis, Ewan Gillies, Grant Neal and Jaimie Pruden.
Elliott heads a creative team consisting of choreographer Liam Steel, musical supervisor and conductor Joel Fram, designer Bunny Christie, lighting designer Neil Austin, sound designer Ian Dickinson (for Autograph Sound), illusions designer Chris Fisher, orchestrator David Cullen, dance arranger Sam Davis and casting directors Alastair Coomer and Charlotte Sutton.
Debuting on Broadway in 1970, the multi award-winning show boasts the timeless music and lyrics of Sondheim and a book by Furth.
Featuring classic Sondheim songs ‘Being Alive’ and ‘Marry Me a Little’, the original production was nominated for an incredible 14 Tony Awards, winning six including Best Musical.
